Arsenal offered Benzema as Madrid clear space for Bale and Suarez

Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema has been offered to Arsenal, the Daily Mirror has reported, as Real Madrid

attempt to clear space in their squad for the signings of Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez.

Benzema, Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria will all be allowed to leave to fund the world record

signing of Tottenham Hotspur winger Bale and the £42m transfer of Liverpool forward

Suarez, the newspaper claims, and Arsenal maintain an interest in each one of the

triumvirate. But Benzema, a striker, is Arsene Wenger’s most wanted, although the player is

said to be less keen on leaving the Santiago Bernabeu.

It is thought Real would raise £100m from the sale of the three players and Di Maria is
closest to agreeing a move to the Gunners but has concerns over leaving Madrid for London.

Ozil is also a long-standing target for Wenger, but it is not expected that Arsenal will sign all

three of the Madrid outcasts.

Benzema began his career at Lyon, moving to La Liga in 2009 and scoring 89 goals in 185

appearances. Di Maria and Ozil, meanwhile, have both been at Madrid since 2010, making

139 and 158 appearances respectively for the club.
