BREAKING NEWS: Broken nose set to rule Rosicky out of Fulham clash

Broken nose set to rule Rosicky out of Fulham clash

Tomas Rosicky has broken his nose and is set to miss Arsenal's clash against Fulham on Saturday.

Scans have shown that the Czech midfielder's nose was displaced when he was caught by a stray elbow from Gabby Agbonlahor as the pair went up for a header in the Gunners' 2-1 over Aston Villa on Monday.

It is understood that Rosicky's broken nose now needs to be reset and he is considered
unlikely to make Saturday's league match at Emirates Stadium.

However, there could be some better news for the Premier League leaders regarding Nacho Monreal, the other casualty of Monday’s Villa Park clash.

There were fears that the Spaniard suffered a broken metatarsal in a challenge with Ron Vlaar, but Arsenal are hopeful that the scan results they are poised to receive on Wednesday will show only bad bruising to the bone.

Rosicky was left bloodied and bruised following the collision with Agbonlahor, but manager Arsene Wenger held back from blaming the Villa forward in the immediate aftermath of the match.

Wenger said Rosicky had a "bad nose" and explained at the time that the club "don’t know if it’s broken". He added: "Honestly, I didn’t see the elbow, I have to watch it again. [Rosicky]  told me that he got the elbow but he, himself, doesn’t know if [Agbonlahor] did it on purpose."
