Jenkinson appreciates rare Arsenal start against Hull

Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson appreciated being given a chance to shine in Wednesday's Premier League victory over Hull City.

The youngster made only his seventh start of the season against the Tigers and provided an early assist for Nicklas Bendtner as the Gunners went on to win 2-0, but concedes that it has been hard to break into the first team.

"The way the back four has been playing lately, I've had to just sit back and admire it,

really," he told BBC London 94.9. "They have been fantastic.

"It is nice for me to get a game. I want to be involved in this journey we are on at the moment."

The victory saw Arsenal maintain their position at the top of the Premier League and, while the squad are "buzzing", Jenkinson wants to ensure that he and his team-mates stay focused on the task at hand.

The full-back continued: "It is still very early on. It is important we use the momentum we have got and keep going.

"Everyone is enjoying their football and how we are playing. We are top of the league, not conceding many and scoring a lot of goals. That speaks for itself.

"Everyone is buzzing, really, [but] football can change very quickly and it is important we keep the right mentality and stay positive."
