Reps summon Oduah to appear on Oct. 31

Abuja – The House of Representatives Committee on Aviation on Wednesday re-issued its summon on the Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah to appear at its investigative hearing on Oct. 31.

Oduah is expected to clarify issues relating to the controversial purchase of two BMW bullet proof cars by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, (NCAA).

Six pregnant girls freed in baby factory raid

LAGOS (AFP) – The Nigerian police have raided a baby factory in the oil city of Port Harcourt and arrested a woman accused of harbouring six pregnant girls, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.

“We rescued six girls last week at different stages of pregnancy from an illegal maternity home in Port Harcourt,” Joy Elomoko of the Imo State police told AFP.

Hadejia – A Hadejia High Court in Jigawa on Wednesday sentenced a 25-year-old farmer, Umar Yakubu, to 15 years imprisonment, without an option of fine, for raping an eight-year-old girl.
