BREAKING NEW! Bomb blasts rock Kano,10 killed

Bomb blasts last night rocked the ancient city of Kano, leaving no fewer than 10 people dead. Daily Sun gathered that the blasts occurred in three locations, in Sabongari area of the city, predominantly inhabited by non-indigenes.
The blasts, which occurred a few minutes before 9p.m, exploded in New Road and Enugu Road areas of Sabongari. According to eyewitness account, the blasts occurred in sequence of one minute’s interval and made a large sound that threw the entire neighbourhood into confusion.
In the New Road blasts, houses nos 38, 39, 40 and 41, which had drinking joints, were affected. The veranda of the houses were damaged. An eyewitness told Daily Sun that he counted about eight corpses in the blast.

It was gathered that the blast at Enugu Road occurred by Forest Villa area, precisely where they play tennis, said an eye witness.
In the blast, several persons equally died. It will be recalled that last year a bomb had rocked New Road, but resulted in no casualty. It only destroyed the car it was planted in.
Following the blasts, people were seen running helter skelter, while security was beefed up. Armed military personnel and policemen had immediately cordoned off the area, while movement was restricted.
When contacted, Kano State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Magaji Magiya, ASP, said he could not confirm the figure, as the Joint Task Force (JTF) was still compiling the list of the casualties.
Spokesman of the JTF, Capt Ikedechi Iweha, told our reporter that he had no details of the casualties. He promised to get back to Daily Sun as soon as he got the information. As at press time, the JTF spokesman did not get back to our reporter.
