APC lacked the moral plank to blackmail our people.
**the level of thuggery and officially-sponsored violence happening in Ekiti and Osun against APC opponents the party should be held responsible if anything happens to Afenifere leaders.
The pan-Yoruba sociocultural group, Afenifere, yesterday said there was no substance in the allegation made by the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, about the plot to rig the 2015 elections. Mohammed had alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has engaged Afenifere to destabilise APC and rig 2015 elections.
But in a swift reaction, the National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin said APC lacked the moral plank to blackmail the group. Odumakin in a statement made available to National Mirror yesterday said there was no substance in the allegation made by APC spokesman, insisting that “Afenifere is not available to be used by either the APC or the PDP.”
According to him, going by the level of thuggery and officially-sponsored violence that took place recently in Ekiti and Osun states against internal and external opposition to the APC, the party should be held responsible if anything happens to Afenifere leaders. Afenifere said that its priority at the moment is to resolve the nationality question at a Sovereign National Conference without which Nigeria may not be able to conduct elections in 2015.
“As far as Yorubaland is concerned, we are committed to restoring the region to its time tested politics of honour, integrity, accountability and leadership with pedigree. The days of power entrepreneurs and reactionary forces masquerading as progressives are numbered in the region,” he said.
